Weekend Wrap-Up, week of 4/9

by Sweet Tea & Taters on April 14, 2012

It’s finally the weekend!  The week after a vacation always seems to draaaaag by so slowly and this week was no exception.  The worst part?  Spinning class!  It was B-R-U-T-A-L!  Luckily we don’t have many plans this weekend so I have some time to work on a couple of fun projects that I have been dying to start.

The first project is gardening!  I will not pretend for one second that I have a green thumb but I am anxious to learn more about gardening.  I am going to attempt an herb garden, a few select vegetables, and some pretty flowers.  Everything has to be in pots because we do not have a yard but I’ve heard that gardening in pots can be very successful.  I hope so!

The second project I am working on is a chalkboard.  Maybe I haven’t shared this little random fact about myself but, I LOVE writing on a chalkboard.  Always have.  I used to pray so hard that the teacher would call on me to come write on the board during school.  Especially when we practiced cursive handwriting.  Oh I just wanted her to see how much I had practiced those cursive letters!  I had a chalkboard easel in my room growing up and I played school with it everyday.  Then, when I worked at Starbucks, I used to spend hours decorating the chalkboards for the display every six weeks.  I loved it.  So, it’s only natural that I would want a chalkboard for my own house.  I’m not sure how I’m going to use it yet but I know I will come up with something!

Have a great weekend everyone!  See you Monday!

This week on Sweet Tea & Taters…

Monday-  One of my favorite snacks is hummus and I love trying new variations of it!  This week I tried out boiled peanut hummus and it was so delicious!
Tuesday-  Leftover Easter ham became ham & pimento cheese stromboli.
Wednesday-  If you are watching baseball this weekend, you will DEFINITELY want to twist up these pretzel dogs for the game!
Thursday-  Looking for a no-brainer dinner?  How about slow cooker chicken tacos?  Three ingredients.  Just dump and go.  DONE.
Friday-  I love snacks that are decadent and healthy at the same time!  These spicy honey roasted almonds really hit the spot this week!

Next week on ST&T…

  • Tacos that involve taters
  • a new sweet tea
  • a super easy dessert for unexpected, last minute company
